Big-bodied playmaker CJ Adams commits to Gamecocks
Shane Beamer has added a versatile playmaker to the “AboveAllEl23” recruiting class for Gamecock football, as Mableton (Ga.) Pebblebrook three-star wide receiver CJ Adams joined the ranks on Sunday.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder was offered by offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield back in February.
Adams, a big-bodied playmaker, has largely flown under the radar, choosing the Gamecocks over Power 5 offers from Louisville, Purdue, Kentucky, Duke, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Virginia.
South Carolina wide receivers coach Justin Stepp also served as a recruiter for Bell with tight ends coach Jody Wright involved too due to the versatile nature of Adams’ game.
After his first visit to campus – which came for the Garnet & Black Spring Game, Adams had a host of positive comments about the Gamecock football program, including the word on how Carolina plans to use him.
“Carolina is ‘athlete,’ some of my other schools are some of both. They feel like my player comparison right now is sort of like Deebo Samuel playing outside, inside, running motions. They basically want me to get the ball. It was how big of a fanbase they have, because in South Carolina, I don’t think they have a pro team, so just that spring ball game, it was a lot of fans and people in jerseys. They were hyped up for a spring game. It was about full for a spring game. The only parts of the stadium that weren’t full were the top two sides and the club areas. Other than that, it was pretty packed out,” Adams said in April.
