VIDEO: Why South Carolina signee Jalon Kilgore is a four-star in the final On3 rankings
South Carolina football signee Jalon Kilgore — a talented defensive back from Eatonton (Ga.) Putnam County — was one of several prospects in the Gamecocks’ class to move up in the final On3 rankings release this week.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder was previously ranked a high-three-star prospect by On3 but moved up to four-star status this week and is now considered the No. 167 overall prospect and No. 16 safety in the 2023 class by On3.

As a reminder, the On3 rankings are put together by On3’s in-house team of evaluators, not to be confused with the On3Consensus, which is an industry average of the four major recruiting media companies. In other words, the On3 rankings make up just a quarter of the On3Consensus.
This rankings release marks the final update and is heavily informed by continued senior season evaluations and national all-star games that featured nearly 200 of the nation’s top prospects.
Kilgore is also a four-star prospect in the On3Consensus, checking in as the No. 267 overall prospect and No. 20 safety in the class.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power joined GC Live earlier this week to discuss Kilgore as a prospect.
