South Carolina releases dress list for Tennessee game
By Collyn Taylor
South Carolina will be without two players but brings back a few veteran pieces this week against Tennessee.
The Gamecocks will be without MarShawn Lloyd and Christian Beal-Smith once again, and Shane Beamer announced that earlier this week. Colten Gauthier did not make the dress list today. The Gamecocks are bringing Spencer Rattler, Tanner Bailey and Luke Doty are the scholarship quarterbacks today.
The running backs South Carolina brings into the game: Jaheim Bell, Lovasea Carroll, Juju McDowell, Rashad Amos, Dante Miller and Nathan Harris Waynick. Terrell Dawkins, who had been hurt, made the dress list.

“Really, the only issues we’ve had are the two injuries we had (going into) last week and that’s MarShawn Lloyd and Christian Beal-Smith. They will not play Saturday against Tennessee,” Beamer said on his weekly call-in show. “We’ll see where they are next week, but right now they don’t feel like they are capable of performing to their abilities on Saturday, so we won’t have those guys. But we’ve dealt with injuries before and we will continue with the next guy up. The next guy’s got to step up and be even better.”
The good news for South Carolina is Vershon Lee returns to the dress list and appears will be available Saturday night. Lee didn’t travel to Gainesville for the Florida game battling the flu.
Lee might not start at guard–Trai Jones has started the three previous games opposite Jovaughn Gwyn–but his return does give the Gamecocks more depth for an offensive line that’s struggled this year.

Beamer did say South Carolina hasn’t battled much of the flu bug this week. The Gamecocks had almost double-digit players miss practice time last week dealing with the sickness.

“We came out of it pretty good,” Beamer said. “Knock on wood, unless somebody gets sick in the next 24 or 48 hours, we haven’t had to deal with the flu like we did last week. We had nine players that played in the Florida game that missed at least one day of practice last week with the flu,” Beamer said Thursday.
“They overcame it — Vershon Lee didn’t, he missed the game — but for the most part, they overcame it, but you guys know, it affects your conditioning and whatnot as well and it’s not an excuse, but if affected our preparation last week. We haven’t had to deal with that.”

With Lloyd and Beal-Smith out, South Carolina is going to have to figure out a way to run the football against a pretty good Tennessee front.
The Gamecocks are coming off another anemic rushing performance, averaging fewer than 3.5 yards per carry, sack adjusted.
Jaheim Bell and Juju McDowell have shouldered the load in their absence.
South Carolina hosts No. 5 Tennessee Saturday night for senior day. The game has been announced as a sellout with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN.
