Gamecocks in the NFL: Week 4 recap

The South Carolina football team had its first bye week of the 2024 season this past week. While current members of the program were given a week off from regular season action, former Gamecocks continued to perform during Week 4 of the NFL season.

Here’s how they fared this weekend for their respective professional teams.

AFC East

Ahmarean Brown – Wide receiver, Buffalo Bills
Brown was signed to the Bills’ practice squad on Sept. 14. and did not feature in the team’s 35-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. He spent time with the Cleveland Browns – the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent – during preseason training camp.

Cam Smith – Cornerback, Miami Dolphins
Smith did not record any statistics or play any snaps in the Dolphins’ 31-12 defeat to the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. He has yet to play for the team this year after being placed on short-term injured reserve ahead of the regular season on Aug. 27.

Marcellas Dial Jr. – Cornerback, New England Patriots
After playing his first defensive snaps as a professional during Week 3, Dial Jr. moved back to playing exclusively on special teams in the Patriots’ 30-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He tied for the team lead in special teams snaps (23) for the second week in a row.

Kevin Harris – Running back, New England Patriots
Harris is currently a member of the Patriots’ practice squad and did not feature in the team’s Week 4 defeat.

Javon Kinlaw – Defensive tackle, New York Jets
Kinlaw recorded one solo tackle in the Jets’ 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos. He played 30 snaps in the contest, including 19 on pass-rush plays and 11 on run defense plays.

AFC North

Darius Rush – Cornerback, Pittsburgh Steelers
Rush did not record any statistics or play any snaps in the Steelers’ 27-24 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts.

AFC South

Chris Lammons – Defensive back, Indianapolis Colts
Lammons logged his most productive performance of the season in the Colts’ victory over the Steelers. He totaled a season-high five tackles (including three solo stops) in addition to one sack and one forced fumble, which he recovered.

Ernest Jones – Linebacker, Tennessee Titans
Jones was slightly less productive during Week 4, but it ultimately did not matter, as the Titans would go on to win their matchup over the Dolphins. He recorded one tackle for loss and two tackles in the contest.

AFC West

Nate Adkins – Tight end, Denver Broncos
Adkins caught one pass for the second consecutive game, but his lone reception in the Broncos’ win over the Jets went for no gain. He played 43 total snaps in the contest – 28 on offense, and 15 on special teams.

Nick Gargiulo – Guard, Denver Broncos
Gargiulo is currently a member of the Broncos’ practice squad and did not feature in the team’s Week 4 victory.

Hayden Hurst – Tight end, Los Angeles Chargers
Hurst’s streak of catching at least one pass extended to four games on Sunday in the Chargers’ 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. He was targeted three times and caught one pass for six total yards.

NFC East

Rico Dowdle – Running back, Dallas Cowboys
Dowdle score his first touchdown of the season on a 15-yard pass from Dak Prescott in the Cowboys’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football. He led the team with 46 rushing yards on 11 carries, while his lone reception of the night came on his first-quarter score.

Israel Mukuamu – Safety, Dallas Cowboys
Mukuamu logged his first defensive statistic of the season – one solo tackle – in the Cowboys’ Week 4 victory. He played two snaps on defense and an additional 17 on special teams.

Jalen Brooks – Wide receiver, Dallas Cowboys
Brooks broke his three-game streak of catching at least one pass and was not targeted during Week 4. But he did play 23 total snaps, including eight on offense and 15 on special teams.

Dante Miller – Running back, New York Giants
Miller is currently a member of the Giants’ practice squad and did not feature in the team’s 20-15 loss to the Cowboys.

NFC North

Zacch Pickens – Defensive tackle, Chicago Bears
Pickens did not practice on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday due to a groin injury, an injury that forced him to be inactive for the Bears’ 24-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Sunday’s contest was the second game in a row (and the third overall) this season he has missed due to injury.

Kingsley Enagbare – Defensive end, Green Bay Packers
One week after his strongest individual performance of the 2024 season, Enagbare did not record any statistics in the Packers’ 31-29 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings. He did, however, play 21 total snaps – including nine on defense and 12 on special teams – in the contest.

Keisean Nixon – Defensive back, Green Bay Packers
Nixon had his most disruptive game of the season in the team’s Week 4 loss. He tied a season high with seven total tackles (including five solo stops) and recorded one sack and one forced fumble.

Stephon Gilmore – Cornerback, Minnesota Vikings
Gilmore did not record any tackles, but he did defend one pass in the Vikings’ win over the Packers. He also played 62 snaps on defense.

Nick Muse – Tight end, Minnesota Vikings
Muse did not record any statistics or play any snaps in the Vikings’ Week 4 victory.

NFC South

Jovaughn Gwyn – Guard, Atlanta Falcons
Gwyn did not record any statistics or play any snaps in the Falcons’ 26-24 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Jadeveon Clowney – Linebacker, Carolina Panthers
Clowney did not log any statistics in the Panthers’ 34-24 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. But he did play 42 defensive snaps in the contest.

Jaycee Horn – Cornerback, Carolina Panthers
Horn recorded one solo tackle and did not miss a snap, appearing on all 76 of the Panthers’ defensive plays, during Week 4.

Xavier Legette – Wide receiver, Carolina Panthers
Legette built on his success from Week 3 with another productive performance, which included his first career touchdown on an eight-yard pass from Andy Dalton in the second quarter. Overall, he received a career-high 10 targets and gained 66 yards on six receptions in the Panthers’ Week 4 loss.

D.J. Wonnum – Linebacker, Carolina Panthers
Wonnum, who is recovering from offseason quadriceps surgery, remained on the physically unable to perform list, which he has been on for the entire season.

Spencer Rattler – Quarterback, New Orleans Saints
Rattler did not make an appearance in the Saints’ Week 4 defeat to the Falcons.

Adam Prentice – Running back, New Orleans Saints
Prentice did not record any statistics during Week 4. He did, however, play 24 snaps on offense and an additional 15 on special teams in the contest.

NFC West

Deebo Samuel Sr. – Wide receiver, San Francisco 49ers
Samuel Sr. made steps in his recovery from a calf strain this week, as he did not practice on Wednesday but was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. Despite being given a “questionable” tag heading into Sunday, he returned from injury in the 49ers’ team’s 30-13 win over the Patriots. Samuel caught three passes for 58 yards and added an additional 14 yards on two rushing attempts.
