Findlay (Oh.) class of 2025 four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery officially has his Top 5 ready and South Carolina made the cut, he announced Tuesday evening.

In addition to the Gamecocks, Florida, Georgia, Penn State, and Michigan made the top group for the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder.

“A big thing with South Carolina is Coach Shane Beamer,” Montgomery told On3’s Chad Simmons. “He is one of my favorite head coaches and I have been in contact with him a lot. I like his plan for South Carolina, his approach and his style really fits me. Coach Dowell Loggains is one of my favorite coaches too. He will talk about anything, he will be completely honest and he has some NFL background. I think South Carolina is on the rise, and with their success on the recruiting trail, I see them doing big things in the coming years.”

Montgomery has been firmly on South Carolina’s radar since Loggains, the Gamecocks’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, arrived in Columbia.

Montgomery visited the Gamecocks in April and then landed an offer in May after Loggains watched him throw during the evaluation period.

“We have been in steady contact I would say and I know my dad enjoys picking his brain on things,” Montgomery said. “His personality and experience stick out to me, especially in the NFL.”

Montgomery plans to be back in Columbia in mid-October when the Gamecocks host Florida.

“I am excited about the game day atmosphere down there as I am told it is wild,” Montgomery said. “I can’t wait to see that as well as how Spencer (Rattler) leads coach’s offense.”

Montgomery also plans to visit Florida on Sept. 16 and Michigan when they host Ohio State.

“I would like to be committed before my senior year,” Montgomery told Simmons. “I am looking at this winter for my timeline. It could happen during basketball season, maybe in January or February, but taking it day by day.

“I will see how things go on the field and how the relationships grow with the staffs this fall. I am not going to rush things, but I am not going to elongate things either.”

Montgomery is the No. 206 overall prospect and No. 16 quarterback in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 recruit in Ohio.
