How Marcus Lattimore sees South Carolina using Jaheim Bell this season
Preseason camp week has officially arrived for South Carolina.
On the newest episode of the podcast series “BLEAV in South Carolina” with me, Marcus Lattimore, and Nick Klos on the BLEAV Network, Lattimore shared how he feels the Gamecocks could use Jaheim Bell this season.

“We want defensive coordinators to spend time on all the possibilities of how he could get the ball,” said Lattimore. “He’s gonna be used obviously in the passing game and the blocking game. But using him as a decoy in the backfield or as a decoy out wide. All of those situations are gonna come up so that (the defenses) will have to spend time worrying about (him). But, as a runner of the football his skillset, he can leave you. He has that type of big playmaking ability.”

Last season Bell complied 30 receptions for 497 yards yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 40 yards on seven carries and returned a kickoff for 22 yards.
“When you test his numbers, he’s gonna test well. But guys like that, he’s just a football player. There’s some dudes (like) Deebo Samuel who are just football players. You put him on defense, you put him on offense, you put him anywhere on the field, he’s gonna make plays.

Despite South Carolina having a loaded running back room, Lattimore’s bold prediction about Bell this season is that he will eclipse the century mark on carries.

“When you think about it, what’s the easiest way to get the ball to the best player? Just but him in the backfield. Maybe this is a stretch but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 100 carries this year. I’m just throwing it out there. I’m saying this from a bias perspective because I just like the idea of putting Bell in the backfield. I know I’m saying this in my own selfish imagination but I think it’s a real possibility.”
