Kentucky vs. South Carolina Preview & Prediction

Ahead of Saturday’s “ESPN College GameDay” show at South Carolina, Pat McAfee took to his own show to share his opinions for the matchup with LSU. Unquestionably, the “GameDay” analyst recognizes the energy and passion Gamecock fans are known nationwide for.

“I assume there is going to be quite a scene on Saturday morning in South Carolina. Great fan base,” McAfee said on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.

Nonetheless, a lot is at stake for the Gamecocks as they enter Saturday’s game undefeated and 1-0 in the SEC. Howeve, fans have been waiting for “College GameDay” to come back to town after the last time they visited was in 2014.

“They’re like the Cornhuskers,” McAfee said, comparing South Carolina to Nebraska. “They’ve been waiting, waiting and waiting and now they got a big-time game.”

LSU suffered its first loss of the season against a strong Southern California team two weeks ago. But another loss for the Tigers could be detrimental to their season.

“(Southern California) beat LSU, that’s a huge deal,” McAfee said. “And if LSU loses this, wait a minute. Lose to USC, very close one, I thought you looked good. USC might be very good towards the end of the season, we shall see in this entire thing.”

Meanwhile, LSU head coach Brian Kelly gained media attention after showing visible frustration over the team’s loss to Southern California. For Kelly’s sake, McAfee knows LSU needs to win this game.

“You got old school Brian Kelly not happy about his team and everything that’s going on out there,” McAfee said. “It’s like if they lose this one to South Carolina, that head might actually explode.”

But it’s the same deal for South Carolina. The Gamecocks are looking to start 3-0 for the first time since 2012. When it comes down to picking who wins this game, McAfee said he wouldn’t be shocked if he went with the home team.

“A lot of people question my journalistic standards because I am swayed by the crowd on who I pick for every single GameDay,” McAfee said. “I’ll tell you what, if they are incredibly hospitable to me and nice to me, it’s hard not to be like, ‘You know what, yeah, I’m with them.'”
