– The ranking is their highest since December of 1997 when they appeared at No.11 to closeout the calendar year.

– This marks the 65th time in program history that the Gamecocks have appeared at No.11 or higher in the AP poll in program history.

– Since 1975, this is just the 13th time that USC has been ranked at No.11 or higher in the AP poll.

– Last week, South Carolina didn’t receive top 25 votes by four voters. This week, every voter has this in the top 25. This is how those four who didn’t vote for the Gamecocks last week voted on them this week:

– Of the 61 AP voters, 11 voted the Gamecocks at No.10. The spot that voters voted them the second most was No.11 (10), followed by No.12 (8), No.13 (7) and No.9 (6).

– South Carolina’s best ranking this late in a year was No.2 during the 1969-70 season. That season also marked the year in which South Carolina was voted No.1 in the preseason poll, a mark that remains their best in program history.

– Unrelated but something else to note. South Carolina men’s and women’s basketball are a combined 44-3. That currently remains the best combined record by any college for basketball in the nation. For those wondering, the best combined record in a season by South Carolina came during the 2015-16 year when the Gamecocks finished 58-11 (MBB 25-9, WBB 33-2).
