Welcome to college football, LaNorris Sellers.
After months of anticipation, the dual-threat freshman quarterback got to play in his first game at South Carolina. And it was a special one. Sellers went 4-for-4 with two touchdowns in a 47-21 win over Furman on Saturday.
Following the win, Sellers spoke with the media about how he thought his performance went and more. Here’s what he had to say.

On his 50-yard touchdown pass
“My thought was to not force anything and just play the play out. And then, I looked to the left…Well, first of all, I wasn’t supposed to do that. But I felt like I had time where I could just make the touchdown and it worked.”
On emotions going into first home game
“I felt good. Going out there, first home game, was nerve-wracking a little bit but I was excited. And then before I went in, they just told me to do what I was taught, just play the game.
“I had quite an adrenaline rush. I couldn’t really see through the smoke coming out of the thing (while running onto the field) but it was fun. It was fun.”

On hearing the fans’ reaction to him entering the game
“It was very cool. I’ll say for the spring game, I got a little taste of it. But just the full sold out crowd, it just felt good to have people support me. So I’m just going to go out there and play my game.”
On learning from Spencer Rattler
“It’s amazing to see. Somebody can learn from him, he’s played a lot of ball. He just surprises me every day. Like these guys have been around him and stuff, they know what he can do. But I haven’t seen it first hand. He surprises me every day.”

What he saw from his fellow freshmen on the field
“I’ve really seen confidence. When they first got here during the spring, because I got here during the summer, I’m assuming they were nervous, but they’ve played a little bit more before I got in. So I’ve seen them slowly gaining confidence. And then when I got the game, they just look towards me, and I’m like, ‘Alright, here we go. Here’s our chance to show the work we put in.'”
