Ivy League offensive lineman joining Gamecock football
Gamecock football appears to have its replacement for veteran center Eric Douglas lined up from the transfer portal.
Yale’s Nick Gargiulo is the latest commitment for Shane Beamer’s program.

Gargiulo played at Yale for head coach Tony Reno, the father of current Gamecock football 2024 verbal commitment Dante Reno.
He began his career at Yale as a left tackle, serving as a backup in 2018 prior to becoming a full-time starter the following season. The Bulldogs did not play a season during the COVID-affected 2020 year, but he did see action in four games in 2021.
Gargiulo took his game to the next level this past season for Yale; he moved to center and was a team captain.

He was a unanimous All-Ivy selection and was named to the named to the New England Football Writers Association All-New England team. The latter honors the top FBS and FCS players from the New England region.
With Gargiulo’s leadership, Yale won an Ivy League title outright and led the league in rushing, total offense, and scoring offense.
He also took home the “Ted Turner Award” at the team’s postseason awards banquet. According to YaleBulldogs.com, the honor is “awarded to the Yale interior lineman who displays tough, hardworking, aggressive play while demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship. The Turner Award is a true student-athlete and role model.”

After entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, Gargiulo also picked up offers from Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Boston College, and Syracuse.
