Jackie Bradley Jr. signs minor league deal with Mets
Former South Carolina baseball superstar Jackie Bradley Jr. took a major step towards returning to the big leagues, signing a minor league deal this week.
The former Gamecock signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets, Sean W. Alcide first reported on Tuesday.

Bradley has spent the 2024 season with the Long Island Ducks, an independent league team partnered with Major League Baseball. In 40 games, he hit .400 with 12 homers, 35 RBI and a 1.204 OPS.

Bradley, 34, was originally drafted 40th overall by the Boston Red Sox in the 2011 MLB Draft. For his major league career, Bradley is a .225 hitter with 109 homers and 449 RBI. He’s within range of 10 years of MLB service time, currently with a tally of nine years and 57 days, putting him 115 days shy of that milestone.
While at South Carolina, Bradley batted .331 with 30 homers through three seasons in Columbia. He also helped the Gamecocks win back-to-back National Championships in 2010 and 2011.
