Jalewis Solomon returning to South Carolina for 2025 season
It’s official: South Carolina Gamecocks fans will see Jalewis Solomon suiting up in the Garnet and Black in 2025.
Solomon has signed a name, image, and likeness (NIL) contract with Garnet Trust, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
That means that Shane Beamer will keep one of the team’s up-and-coming defensive backs in Columbia for his redshirt freshman season.

“Kudos to our fanbase, kudos to our administration, kudos to the Garnet Trust for all they’ve done to be able to help us and our guys out in so many ways,” Beamer said of South Carolina’s efforts in player retention last year. “This program is about relationships, honesty, and trust and having conversations with guys, and building relationships throughout the season. Guys have expressed to us that they want to be (here).”
“I think retaining our current roster is the most important thing,” added Darren Uscher, South Carolina football’s Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting, during a recent appearance on GC Live.
Solomon spent most of this past season behind other defensive backs on the depth chart, but he saw the field three times. He earned playing time against Kentucky (on Sept. 7), Akron (Sept. 21) and Wofford (Nov. 23).

Solomon played 31 combined snaps on defense and special teams during the 2024 campaign, according to Pro Football Focus. He saw the most action against the Terriers, where he appeared on 12 plays and recorded his first career tackle.

Wide receiver and cornerback at Schley County High School in Ellaville, Ga… graduated in 2024… totaled over 3,400 yards and 34 touchdowns during his career… added 96 tackles with 17 interceptions and 20 pass breakups… led the Wildcats to a 13-1 record and a spot in the state semifinals in 2023… caught 70 passes for 1,072 yards and 11 touchdowns… credited with 26 tackles and eight INTs with six pass breakups… selected as an UnderArmour All-American… coached by Darren Alford… as a junior, earned all-state honors after catching 86 passes for 1,210 yards and 10 TD for a squad that went 12-3 and played for a Class A Division II title… credited with 29 tackles, 4 PBU and 3 INTs… caught 61 passes for 989 yards and 13 scores as a sophomore, while totaling 22 tackles, 8 PBUs and 5 interceptions… earned all-state recognition and participated in the Georgia Elite Classic.
