University of South Carolina WR Josh Vann joined Kendall Smith for an exclusive interview the day before game day vs Georgia State.

What channel is the South Carolina vs. Georgia State football game on?

It’s one of life’s great mysteries and possibly the single most asked question Gamecock Central gets on a week-to-week basis.

The simple answer is that the game is on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.

(You can also click here to go directly to the SEC Network+ feed of the game.)

Which leads to the next question: How do I watch the game on my TV? Do I need to pay for ESPN+?

First things first, chances are you do not — and we can’t emphasize this enough — you do not have to purchase ESPN+ to watch South Carolina’s season opener against Georgia State.

If you already have a satellite, cable, or live TV streaming service that features the regular ole SEC Network — and we’re assuming that you do if you’re planning to watch the Gamecocks play in other games this season — then you already have access to SEC Network+.

And that means you can watch the game Saturday without any additional charges by simply logging in to the ESPN app on your streaming device, smart TV or web browser with your username and password from your provider.

One thing to keep an eye on here is to make sure you click the feed of the game that says SEC Network+, not the one that says ESPN+.

You can also click here to go directly to the SEC Network+ version of the game.

Luckily, the SEC Network (and thus the SEC Network+) is available on pretty much all of the major TV services now including Cox, DIRECTV, DIRECTVStream, DISH Network, fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, Optimum, Sling TV, Spectrum, Suddenlink, Verizon Fios, Xfinity TV, YouTube TV and Vidgo.

The ESPN App is available on Android, Amazon Fire TV, iOS, Chromecast, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV, Kindle Fire, Android TV, PS4, XBox and Oculus.

If you don’t have any of those, you can always simply go to Watch ESPN on a browser.

In other words, if you watched South Carolina baseball games this season, then you should already be fully

equipped to watch the game on Saturday.

Let’s recap…

What “channel” is the South Carolina game on?

SEC Network+ and ESPN+

Do I need ESPN+ to watch the game?

No. Probably not. If you have SEC Network in your satellite/cable/streaming TV provider package, you can still watch SEC Network+.

How do I watch the game on my TV?

Connect pretty much any streaming device to your TV. Download the ESPN app. Log in with your satellite/cable/streaming TV provider username and password and watch the game in beautiful HD on your television.

Is the game on a traditional TV channel?

No. But that’s okay. Streaming is more assessable than ever. And with a better picture than ever. Twenty years ago we would have had to pay $30 to watch this game on PPV with a far less quality production.

….

So, there you have it. The definitive guide to watching the Gamecocks’ season opener, which is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

And remember, you don’t need ESPN+ — so save your $9.99 per month and subscribe to Gamecock Central instead! 😉
