The rising junior class in South Carolina is loaded as seven prospects from the state are in the new class of 2027 On300.

The group is headlined by Fort Mill (S.C.) Catawba Ridge four-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who is ranked the No. 5 overall prospect in the country and the top prospect in the Palmetto State.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Dobson is the No. 1 cornerback in the country for his class and has been prioritized by South Carolina defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.

As a reminder, the On300 is comprised of just the On3 rankings produced by the company’s in-house scouts.

It’s different than the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average of the four major rankings. With the move up in the On3 rankings, Dobson is now a five-star prospect in the Industry Ranking.

Dobson was last in Columbia for the Gamecocks’ spring game.

“Everything was great,” Dobson told On3. “I felt wanted and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Can’t wait to get back and build this relationship deeper. Shane (Beamer) is a great guy and an even better coach. I understand what he’s trying to do and the direction of the program.”

Next in the new On300 is one part of a talented Irmo High duo in four-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant, who checks in at No. 49 overall in the class and No. 6 at his position.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder counts South Carolina, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Penn State among his early offers.

Making a big jump into the On300 at No. 109 in the country is Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe four-star DL Seth Tillman, who landed an offer from the Gamecocks last month.

The 6-foot-3, 256-pounder also has early scholarship opportunities from Texas A&M, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, and Maryland, among others. He’s the No. 12 interior defensive lineman in the class.

Rounding out the Irmo duo is four-star OL Nate Carson, who checks in at No. 177 overall and the No. 15 offensive tackle in the country. The Gamecocks are prioritizing the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder, who also holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and Tennessee.

Fort Mill (S.C.) Indian Land ATH Sequel Patterson could end up at wide receiver or cornerback at the next level, but South Carolina is recruiting him to play offense.

On3 currently ranks Patterson the No. 231 overall prospect in the class and No. 5 Palmetto State prospect. That’s slightly lower than the On3 Industry Ranking, which considers him the No. 2 prospect in the state behind only Dobson.

Two more South Carolina wide receiver targets round out the in-state prospects on the list in Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View WR Khristian Jackson (No. 249 overall) and Summerville (S.C.) WR Jaiden Kelly-Murray (No. 263 overall).

Notable in-state prospects who are not in the On300 but will potentially be highly ranked are Woodruff running back Aiden Gibson and Ridgeland (S.C.) Beaufort WR Amare Patterson.

Gibson has an early offer from the Gamecocks while Patterson is receiving interest.
