Kilgore family reunion: Gerald Kilgore commits to South Carolina
Tennessee Tech transfer defensive back Gerald Kilgore — the brother of South Carolina freshman sensation Jalon Kilgore — has opted for a family reunion in Columbia, making a commitment to the Gamecocks on Sunday.
Kilgore’s commitment comes after official visits to South Carolina, West Virginia, and FAU, all of which offered him a scholarship after he entered the portal a couple of weeks ago.
“It was great, just being there with my family, considering Jalon being there, he was my host,” Gerald Kilgore told GamecockCentral right after his visit. “So, everything went real good, had some conversations with Coach (Torrian) Gray, Coach (Shane) Beamer, and just them telling me about how to use the opportunities that are there for me to be able to try and work my way to get on the field, them just being really excited about the opportunities I have. Of course, two brothers at the same school, that would be great, but of course, I’m just going through the process, trying to figure out what’s best for me.”
Kilgore is a former quarterback who made the transition to defensive back at Tennessee Tech, taking a redshirt in 2022 and then playing in 11 games this past season.
