It didn’t take long for another Gamecock women’s basketball star to make a decision on next season.

Laeticia Amihere announced she will be declaring for the upcoming WNBA Draft on April 10.

“I will forever call this place home. It mean so much to be greeted with open arms by my teammates, coaches, staff and of course the Fams. I’m deeply grateful for each and every one of you. You have all played such an important role in my development and have stuck with me through it all,” Amihere said in a post on Twitter.

“I am incredibly grateful to announce that I will be declaring for the upcoming WNBA Draft. It has been an honor and privilege to represent the University of South Carolina and wear the Gamecock jersey.”

Amihere was a part of the infamous 2019 recruiting class that included five-stars Aliyah Boston (No. 3 nationally), Zia Cooke (No. 4), Brea Beal (No. 11), and three-star Olivia Thompson. She was the No. 10 player in that year’s class.

Despite seeing some of her career hindered by ACL injuries, she still proved to be an impactful player for South Carolina.

Amihere averaged 6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in four seasons with the Gamecocks. She mainly came off the bench, only starting in four of the 127 games she played in.

Her best statistical season came during the 2020-21 season, where she averaged 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Later that season, she’d go on to become the new school record holder for blocks in an NCAA Tournament game with 9 against Texas.

Amihere was on three Final Four teams as well as the national championship winning squad in 2022.

This season, Amihere and South Carolina didn’t lose a game en route to the program’s third consecutive Final Four before losing to Iowa in the national semifinal.

Amihere becomes the third player to publicly announce their decision. Brea Beal and Aliyah Boston will also be entering the draft.
