LaNorris Sellers named FWAA National Offensive Freshman of the Year
Reaping the rewards of a great season to say the least.
South Carolina starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers was named the National Offensive Freshman of the Year by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) on Wednesday afternoon.
This honor comes one day after Sellers, along with teammates Dylan Stewart and Josiah Thompson, all made the FWAA Freshman All-America Team.
In his first year as the starter under center, Sellers completed 196 of his 299 passes (65.6 percent) for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The redshirt freshman was also a force on the ground, rushing for 674 yards and seven touchdowns on 166 carries.

Sellers was a two-time winner of the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award and a two-time recipient of the league’s Freshman of the Week honors. He played a huge role in helping the Gamecocks turn things around within a season, as they went from five wins in 2023 to a 9-4 season in 2024.
Along with Sellers, two other players were awarded as the National Freshman Players of the Year. Notre Dame defensive back Leonard Moore took home defensive honors, while Clemson kicker Nolan Hauser won the award for special teams.
Additionally, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown, who led the Orange to a 10-win season in 2024, was the recipient of the First-Year Coach Award by the FWAA. All winners, including Sellers, will be honored during a ceremony Feb. 24 at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille in Gainesville, Fla.
