It’s official: South Carolina star quarterback LaNorris Sellers will play for the Gamecocks in 2025 and has inked a new agreement with Garnet Trust.

While the Florence, S.C. native’s return to the Gamecocks was always expected, his return to the program is now official and public. Garnet Trust announced the news on Christmas Eve.

“I want to thank Garnet Trust, its members, and its contributors for making this opportunity possible,” Sellers said in a statement. “Playing for the University of South Carolina has always been a dream of mine, and as someone from South Carolina, it means even more to represent this incredible community. My commitment remains with the University of South Carolina, our coaches, my teammates, and our amazing fans.”

Sellers’ play captivated the country during South Carolina’s six-game winning streak to close the 2024 campaign.

Sellers’ resume includes a road win over Clemson in which he rushed 16 times for 166 yards and rushed for two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter.

“NIL at the University of South Carolina is different,” said Jeremy Smith, Director of Operations for Garnet Trust. “Our commitment to transparency and supporting the remarkable culture cultivated by Coach Beamer and his staff sets us apart. Here, players are driven by a team-first mentality and a desire to grow under some of the best coaching talent in college football.

“At South Carolina, we’re building more than a program—we’re building a family. When players embrace a culture rooted in teamwork, growth, and integrity, success follows both on and off the field. For us, it’s about preparing players for the 40 years beyond their time here, not just the four years they spend with us. We are dedicated to shaping men of character who contribute to something greater than themselves.”

Launched in November 2021, Garnet Trust is a platform for fans to connect with University of South Carolina student-athletes through name, image, and likeness deals. Those athletes are compensated to engage with Garnet Trust members via videos and written content, autographing items, attending events, and other deliverables.

A 2023 graduate of South Florence High School, Sellers was ranked the No. 8 quarterback in the country out of high school by On3 but he’s already outplayed his prep ranking.
