Florence (S.C.) South Florence class of 2023 three-star quarterback LaNorris Sellers officially has an offer from the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The 6-foot-2.5, 215-pound Syracuse commitment announced on Saturday that he had landed a scholarship from Shane Beamer and Co.

Gamecock Central reported two days ago that the in-state quarterback was now in “serious consideration” for an offer after quarterbacks coach Marcus Satterfield watched Sellers play last Friday during the Gamecocks’ bye week.

A one-time Virginia commit, Sellers committed to the Orange in March but has visited South Carolina multiple times during the recruiting process and has thrown for the Gamecocks’ coaches during 7-on-7 events at the school.

Sellers is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the state this year as he’s having a massive senior season. In a game a few weeks ago, Sellers scored nine touchdowns in one half with Cuse head coach Dino Babers on the sidelines.

In late August, Sellers was named a 2023 prospect on the cusp of adding a fourth star by On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.

LaNorris Sellers has been one of the more underrated quarterbacks nationally for the majority of the cycle, in our opinion. The Florence (S.C.) South Florence signal caller was off to a hot start as a junior, accounting for 16 total touchdowns (including a 10-1 TD:INT ratio) in just four games. Sellers missed the majority of the season due to a fluke injury to his left arm.

The 6-foot-2.5, 215 pounder is back to full speed and is back to another hot start to his senior season. Sellers has shown a strong arm and ability to drive the football downfield both in the camp and high school 7-on-7 settings. He’s a plus athlete for the position with good combine numbers and doubles as a standout soccer player (averaged 1.5 goals per game as a junior). Sellers is also one of the younger quarterbacks in the cycle, having turned 17 years-old in late June and a top student.

As it stands, Sellers is a three-star prospect.

Power and On3 give him a ranking of 89, one point short of four-star status, ranking him as the No. 17 quarterback in the class and No. 4 prospect in South Carolina.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Sellers as the No. 726 overall prospect and the No. 38 quarterback as well as the No. 8 prospect in South Carolina.
