South Carolina women’s basketball still has some unfinished business for the 2023-2024 season, but the Gamecocks are already getting big news for next year before postseason play has even begun.
South Carolina senior Te-Hina Paopao, who transferred into the program this past offseason from Oregon, announced on Monday night that she’s returning to college for another year to continue playing for the Gamecocks.
Paopao announced the decision via a post on X/Twitter.

Paopao has played in 28 of South Carolina’s 29 games this season, all starts, and currently leads the country in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting 48.57 percent from deep.

She is averaging 11.5 points per game this season to go along with 2.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
The 5-foot-9 Oceanside, Calif. native signed with Oregon out of La Jolla Country Day High School. In three seasons with the Ducks, she averaged 12.5 points and 3.6 assists, shooting 38.0 percent from 3-point range with 1.9 made 3s per game.
Paopao and the No. 1-ranked Gamecocks are set to open SEC Tournament play on Friday at noon vs. the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 8 seed Mississippi State and the No. 9 seed, which will be either Texas A&M or Arkansas.
South Carolina is 29-0 overall and 15-0 in SEC play for the second straight regular season. The Gamecocks, who took home the regular season SEC title, will be the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.
