Live updates: Shane Beamer Kentucky press conference
After a little bit of extra time off this weekend, South Carolina is back to the practice field and preparing for a pivotal contest against Kentucky.
The Gamecocks will start Wildcat week with the weekly Talking Tuesdays. Players met with the media earlier Tuesday morning.

South Carolina is coming off a Thursday night win over South Carolina State and jumps back into SEC play this week.
The Gamecocks’ last win over Kentucky came in 2019 and the last win in Lexington was a decade ago, 2012.
The Wildcats have won seven of the last eight matchups against South Carolina.

It’s the first of six straight games against conference opponents and seven games against Power 5 opponents over eight weeks.
South Carolina plays Kentucky with its bye week next followed by home games against Texas A&M and Missouri before three of the final four games on the road.
The lone home game in November is a game against Tennessee.

The Gamecocks opened as 10-point underdogs to the Wildcats on Sunday, according to CircaSports, for their upcoming matchup in Lexington, set for Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7: 30 p.m. ET.
The book set the over/under on the matchup at 47 1/2 points. Earlier in the day, FanDuel set the line at Kentucky by 12 1/2.

South Carolina (3-2, 0-2 SEC) defeated SC State, 50-10, on Thursday in a game that was moved up two days due to the impending threat of Hurricane Ian.
The Gamecocks are 3-2 against the spread this season, covering in wins over Georgia State, Charlotte and SC State and failing to cover in losses to Arkansas and Georgia.
Kentucky (4-1, 1-1 SEC) lost a heartbreaker at Ole Miss, 22-19, on Saturday after having what was nearly the potential game-winning touchdown called back due to the ball being snapped before everyone was set.
The Wildcats are 4-1 against the spread this season.
Kentucky has won the last two matchups between the two programs with the Gamecocks’ last win coming in 2019. The Wildcats won last year’s game, 16-10, at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The contest is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network.
