The first of many South Carolina preseason availabilities kicks off in less than 30 minutes.

South Carolina’s fall camp starts at 3 p.m. with Shane Beamer addressing the media in a formal press conference.

You can follow live updates here.

It’s the first of three events Thursday afternoon. Beamer is addressing the media for 30 minutes before all of South Carolina’s assistants will speak with the media.

Those will last 30 minutes before players speak with the media. Players will be available at 4 p.m. for an entire hour.

Beamer will almost certainly talk about the status of the team, both physically and mentally. He’ll also address where things are as they enter year two at South Carolina.

South Carolina is coming off a year where the Gamecocks exceeded external expectations. They won seven games, including a dominant bowl win over North Carolina, and also parlayed that into an exciting offseason.

Spencer Rattler headlines a strong group of transfers, and South Carolina comes in expecting to improve off the 2021 season.

“It’s amazing. I was looking at it last week the amount of offense our guys know and understand. Even the freshmen that got here at the start of summer,” Marcus Satterfield said. “They’re able to go out there in PRPs. Spencer (Rattler’s) able to go out there and call anything from play one to play 50. And they go out there and execute.”

South Carolina starts practice Friday morning. Media will get to watch the first five periods.

The Gamecocks begin their season Sept. 3 against Georgia State. That’s followed with back-to-back SEC games at Arkansas and home versus Georgia.

The season opener kicks at 7:30 p.m. with the following two games slated to kickoff at noon ET.

South Carolina’s staff will practice for the first time Friday, but they’ve been able to get on the field with the team during the summer.

“Being able to meet with them within the rules as far as what you can do. To be able to install offense, defense and special teams stuff during the summertime,” Beamer said. “Then to be able to go out on the field with them a couple of times throughout the week and install stuff, there’s no question.”

The Gamecocks were voted to finish fifth in the SEC East by the league’s media this preseason.

Cam Smith, Jaheim Bell, Josh Vann and Zacch Pickens were all listed as preseason all-SEC players.
