South Carolina made permanent what was initially a temporary shift in its offensive line coaching responsibilities.

South Carolina offensive analyst and interim offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley has been promoted to full-time offensive line coach in a move that was approved by the Board of Trustees in a meeting on Friday.

Teasley is on a two-year deal through 2024 and will make $410,000 annually.

Former offensive line coach Greg Adkins is expected to continue at South Carolina as an analyst.

It’s the same structure that South Carolina used for much of the 2022 season after Adkins stepped away from the team during the early part of the season due to what Carolina called “minor health issues” at the time.

The school initially announced that news prior to the Gamecocks’ Week 5 matchup with S.C. State.

It was not the first time Adkins has had to miss time at South Carolina due to health reasons. Adkins missed some time during the 2021 season as well with Teasley also stepping in as interim o-line coach then as well.

While Adkins has been back in his office for weeks now, it appeared that Teasley was still handling the primary o-line coach role as the season progressed and he was on the road recruiting as well.

When Carolina lost offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield at the end of the season, opening up a temporary spot on the full-time staff, both Adkins and Teasley went on the road to see prospects.

Teasley, who has also spent the last two seasons in Columbia, spent the two years prior to that as the offensive line coach at North Carolina Central University.

Prior to that, Teasley worked as the offensive line coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (2018) and Tennessee Tech University (2017). He also has NFL experience, having worked for two seasons (2015-16) with the Baltimore Ravens, assisting the offensive line coach. He also was an assistant offensive line coach at Temple University for the 2014 campaign.

Teasley coached for three years in the MEAC as an assistant coach and graduate assistant at Delaware State University, leading the linebackers (2013) and tight ends (2011-12). He started his coaching career at Brunswick (Ga.) High School as defensive line coach for three seasons (2008-10).

Teasley played as an offensive lineman at Hofstra University and Winston-Salem State University, graduating from WSSU in 2008.
