Luke Doty remains the ultimate teammate, competitor
It’s been nearly a year since Luke Doty suffered a foot injury in preseason camp.
Although the then sophomore quarterback was able to return to the lineup and played in five games, he re-injured that same foot later in the season. Eventually, his 2021 campaign was cut short and it led to him needing foot surgery.

As if coming back from an injury wasn’t already tough enough, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding transfer quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Doty is human. He hears the cheers for the new guy in town, and he gets it. Yet as Doty shared, he’s not letting that change who he is one bit.
“I was thinking about this going into camp,” admitted Doty. “My job is to just come in here every single day and be the best person, be the best leader, and be the best teammate that I know I can be. On the field, it’s about being a leader. Regardless if it’s me or Spencer out there or one of the young guys, my job is to be a team player and to help everybody out along the way.”

Regardless of who’s under center for USC this season, if any team in the country knows the importance of needing depth at quarterback it’s South Carolina. Especially after starting four different QBs last season with three being due to injuries. With Doty back in the lineup and getting reps with the twos to start camp, he’s feeling good about his foot.
“It’s about putting (the injury) behind you. We put the work and we did the rehab. We’ve done everything we could to get back to the point of where we are now. And if not, better than where we were before… I’m ready to go.”
