Marcus Lattimore weighs in on South Carolina's offense
All week long it feels like just about everyone in and around South Carolina has shared their opinions about the Gamecocks’s offense. Add former USC running back Marcus Lattimore to that list now.
“There’s a lot of things that (Marcus Satterfield) sees that he does well that matches our personnel,” said Lattimore. “But there’s a lot of things, in my opinion, that don’t match our personnel.”
Ranked third to last in total offense in the SEC, South Carolina has shown sparks at times but have struggled to find consistency from week-to-week.

“One thing that has really just jumped off the screen every game are the amount of playmakers we have. And when I talk about playmakers I’m talking about dynamic guys. Like you get Ahmarean Brown in space, which hasn’t been often, but those quick flashes when we do throw him a screen, this dude can take it 70. MarShawn Lloyd, he can take it 70. Juice Wells, obviously he’s just different. And then Jaheim Bell. We’ve got four legit guys who can turn a game upside down in one play. What do you do with guys like that? I feel like you have to see the game from that perspective. And it’s not being maximized right now. That’s just my opinion.”

A word that has been floated around a lot going back to last year when talking about South Carolina’s offense is “feel.” That’s a word that also stands out to Lattimore when watching the Gamecocks operate on offense.
“Again, I’m not coaching. I’m not an SEC coach. I haven’t put that hours in that Satterfield has in watching film against all of these different teams and coming up with great game plans. I’m not that dude. I get it. But, from a player/coach — someone who watches the game from a ‘feel,’ like I’m watching it from a sense of feeling the game, we’re not maximizing it.”
