MBB: Former Vanderbilt signee set to visit South Carolina
Austin (Tex.) Oak Hill Academy class of 2024 three-star power forward Jamie Vinson, a former Vanderbilt signee, will visit South Carolina in the middle of this week, GamecockCentral has confirmed.
The news of the visit was initially reported by @SportsTalkSC on Twitter/X via Oak Hill head coach Yerrick Stoneman, who used to coach at Ridge View in Columbia.
Vinson, who originally committed to and signed with Vanderbilt, reopened his recruitment when the Commodores parted ways with head coach Jerry Stackhouse.

Interestingly enough, South Carolina has a spot on their roster available because of a similar scenario. The Gamecocks granted a release to former signee Trent Noah, a Kentucky native who quickly committed to the Wildcats after receiving an offer from new Kentucky coach Mark Pope.
While Noah was a guard, the Gamecocks don’t seem set on filling his vacated scholarship with a one-to-one replacement as evidenced by the pursuit of the 6-foot-10, 220-pound Vinson.
Vinson also appears to be an ideal fit for South Carolina coach Lamont Paris’ system given that his bio as a Vanderbilt signee deemed him as a big man who can stretch the floor with his shooting ability.

A three-star prospect on all four major recruiting services, the On3 Industry Ranking has Vinson as the No. 45 power power and No. 206 overall prospect in the class.
GamecockCentral will continue to dig on this situation to try and determined what other schools are involved in his recruitment now that it’s reopened.
