At one time it looked like priority South Carolina recruiting target Zyon Guiles would take several summer official visits and then make a decision but those plans have changed.

The Hemingway (S.C.) Carvers Bay class of 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman will announce his decision on March 21, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, and Georgia are the schools that Guiles has had on the books for official visits. The top Palmetto State target added Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida State among the seven that could be the pick on decision day.

Guiles’ recruitment has had a bit of Palmetto State flavor ever since the two in-states offered him on the same day last June.

He’s been a mainstay on the Gamecocks’ campus and a high priority ever since.

“It’s not too far from where I live so that’s one big plus for me,” Guiles said then of South Carolina. “I like Shane Beamer. Shane Beamer, he has like, how do I say this, he has a side of humor, you know. Not a lot of coaches have that outside of football, but you can joke around with him. You can joke around with (Lonnie) Teasley, joke around with the staff it’s just, it’s really fun. They’re family over there for sure.”

The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder is the No. 129 overall prospect and No. 7 interior lineman in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, is much higher on him than other services. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 40 overall recruit and No. 3 interior lineman. As he has moved up the rankings, his recruitment has followed.

“The recruiting process for Zyon from this point last year until now is night and day,” his high school coach, Matthew Richard, told GamecockCentral. “Last year, he was still little known. He took that as motivation. He hit the weight room, he dedicated himself to his craft even more. He’s still the same hungry kid, still wants to prove himself.”

On3’s Keegan Pope contributed to this story.
