Quartet of South Carolina players hit transfer portal

Just days after South Carolina’s season ended, the Gamecocks saw four players enter the transfer portal.
Pitcher Aidan Hunter and position players Elijah Lambros, Jalen Vasquez and Thad Ector have all entered the portal, GamecockCentral confirmed.
Hunter pitched 48.1 innings this season over 20 appearances, three starts, with a 7.63 ERA and a .329 batting average against. The Summerville prospect came in with the 2021 class.
Both Lambros and Ector were part of the 2021 class as well and had a combined 48 at-bats this season in 10 combined starts.
Lambros slashed .152/.300/.152 with 12 strikeouts in 33 at-bats while Ector went 1-for-15 with three runs scored and eight strikeouts. He walked twice.

Vasquez came in with the 2020 class and struggled to see the field much last year. His role increased as this season went on, and he finished the year with 25 appearances and six starts.
He finished the year slashing .226/.278/.323 with a home run and five driven in. He struck out 13 times in 31 at-bats.
Infielder Vito Valincius also entered the portal before the season ended and Michael Esposito is no longer with the team.
South Carolina finished the year 27-28 and will miss the postseason for the fourth time in seven seasons.
