Recap: South Carolina track & field updates after Day 3 of nationals
Day 3 of the NCAA Outdoor Championship took place on Friday with a pair of South Carolina men competing.
Anass Eyssai earned First Team All-American honors after coming in eighth place in Friday’s 1500-meter final with a time of 3:40.81. Channing Ferguson placed 11th in the high jump finals with a high of 6-11½, earning him Second Team All-American honors. Last year Ferguson came in 14th place at nationals in the same event.

Saturday will be the fourth and final day of nationals, which will feature a handful of Gamecock women athletes. On Thursday, JaMeesia Ford and Jayla Jamison qualified for Saturday’s final in the 200-meter with their performances. Ford won her heat and finished with the second best time posting a 22.14. Jamison came in second in her heat with a time of 22.35, good enough for fourth overall. Saturday’s 200-meter final will start at 4:07 p.m. PT (7:07 p.m. ET).
The Gamecocks will also be represented in the the 4x100m relay final after coming in fourth in the preliminaries on Thursday with a time of 42.66. That team consist of Ford, Cynteria James, Zaya Akins, and Jahnile Registre. The final for the 4x100m relay on Saturday will begin at 2:32 p.m. PT.

In addition, South Carolina will compete in the 4x400m relay final after their performance on Thursday. The team made up of Akins, Ford, Sylvia Chelangat, and Jahnile Registre won their heat with a time of 3:27.10. That was also good enough to finish second overall in the preliminaries. They’ll run in Saturday’s final at 4:51 p.m. PT.
Unlike the first three days of nationals, Saturday’s portion of the NCAA Outdoor Championship will air live on ESPN. Below, is a full schedule of this weekend’s events.
