Miami commit Reid Mikeska flips to Gamecocks
South Carolina continues to revamp its tight end room and today they added one of their long-time targets at the position when Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland class of 2023 three-star tight end Reid Mikeska flipped from Miami to the Gamecocks.
The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder has been a priority target for first-year tight ends coach Jody Wright ever since he offered Mikeska way back in February during his first days on the job.

Back in February, Mikeska offered up some thoughts on his future Gamecocks position coach during an interview with GamecockCentral.com.
“I really like him,” Mikeska said. “He’s a great coach. He just came from the NFL, so obviously he has great experience. I just feel like he’d be a great coach. He could really develop me and take me to the next level.”
A one-time Clemson commit, Mikeska decommitted from the Tigers before landing with Miami and now South Carolina after taking an official visit to Columbia over the weekend.
While Mikeska did not do interviews after his official visit, he did offer strong reviews of the South Carolina program when the Gamecocks initially offered.

“I love SEC ball, I love that they’re in the SEC,” Mikeska said at the time. “I love how they use tight ends. I’ve been following Hayden Hurst for a little bit, so I watched him there before I really started liking them. They use the tight end well. Great location. SEC. You can’t ask for much more than that.”

He is the No. 1105 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Mikeska ranks as the nation’s No. 58 tight end and the No. 195 recruit in the state of Texas.
On3 is higher on him than other recruiting services, as shown in the Industry Comparison. He isn’t ranked among the top-300 prospects in the class, but checks in as the country’s No. 35 tight end and No. 152 player in the Lone Star State.
Mikeska is the third tight end to pledge to South Carolina in the last couple of days joining transfer portal additions Nick Elksnis and Trey Knox.
