After three wins in the Columbia Regional, South Carolina is headed to the Super Regional, where it will host the No. 9 UCLA Bruins with a trip to the Women’s College World Series on the line.

The series begins Friday afternoon. Before then, here’s an early look at the Bruins and what to know.

How UCLA got here

The Bruins hosted the Los Angeles Regional, welcoming Arizona State, San Diego State, and UC Santa Barbara to their home field. UCLA dominated in its three matchups to win the regional, advancing to its 15th Super Regional.

In game one of the Los Angeles Regional, UCLA defeated UC Santa Barbara 9-1 in six innings. Sophomore Kaitlyn Terry went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and graduate student Jessica Clements went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the leadoff spot.

Then the Bruins blew out San Diego State 10-0 in six innings. Junior Jordan Woolery went 2-for-2 with five RBIs, with Terry pitching a complete game on the mound, allowing no hits and just two runs.

Following suit, game three against UC Santa Barbara was another run-rule victory for the Bruins. The Bruins beat UC Santa Barbara 12-1 in just five innings.

How UCLA stacks up against other NCAA Division I teams

The Bruins finished the regular season 49-10 (17-5 Big Ten) and made a run to the Big Ten Championship, falling short to Michigan. UCLA started the season ranked No. 5 but fell slightly due to losses to Arizona, Virginia, and Duke.
