SEC fines South Carolina after fans storm field in win over Texas A&M
Not long after South Carolina beat No. 10 Texas in upset fashion, the Southeastern Conference was quick to hit the Gamecocks with a hefty fine.
The SEC announced it would be fining South Carolina “for violation of the league’s access to competition area policy” after fans stormed the field following the team’s 44-20 win on Saturday.
“South Carolina will incur a fine of $250,000 for a second offense under the league’s current access to competition area policy that was revised at the SEC Spring Meetings in 2023. South Carolina’s first offense under the revised policy occurred when fans entered the court following a Gamecock victory over Kentucky in men’s basketball in January,” the SEC said in a statement.

As a result, South Carolina will be forced to pay the fine to Texas A&M.
Since this was the university’s second offense, the next time an incident like this happens will result in a $500,000 for every field/court storming going forward.
