On Friday, Shane Beamer appeared on Paul Finebaum’s Twitter Space. It marked the first time that the SEC Network media personality had hosted one. So, who better to have on for show No.1 than a coach who is very plugged into social media.

“That’s something my dad (Frank Beamer) never had to deal with when he was coaching. It’s just part of it,” said Shane Beamer. “For me it’s one, a way to continue to get our message out. Two, it’s a way to communicate with recruits. I’m sure there’s a lot of recruits in school right now but I also hope there’s some on here listening.”

Recruiting hasn’t stopped for Beamer and South Carolina‘s coaching staff since the day Beamer was hired. Currently sitting at 19th in the latest On3 2023 consensus team recruiting rankings, Beamer shared how recruiting has picked up over the past two days.
“Classes started here at Carolina (on Thursday) so it’s a little quieter and slower than what it has been because our players are in class. We’ll practice tonight and then we’ll have a scrimmage (on Saturday). Having the afternoons be a little more free really gives us an opportunity to get ahead on recruiting. That and future opponents.”

But it’s not just recruiting that South Carolina is getting a leg up on.
“Starting back in June we took time each day to go through as an entire staff all 12 of our opponents. Just changes they’ve had to their coaching staff or scheme issues they may present us as we go through the season. So as you get through camp and leading up to the first game, certainly all of our focus the first week will be on Georgia State. This upcoming week we’ll introduce Georgia State but we’ll also spend some time on schematic issues that future opponents present that we need to be prepared for this season. That and things that gave us trouble last year that we worked on in the spring.”
