Shane Beamer gives timetable for South Carolina trio's return
South Carolina wide receiver Jared Brown and defensive tackle DeAndre Jules were already ruled out on Wednesday for this Saturday’s matchup with Oklahoma.
On Thursday, head coach Shane Beamer provided further context on Brown and Jules and the latest on starting right tackle Cason Henry who was listed as “probable” in Wednesday’s player availability report.
“We’re in pretty good shape compared to where we were last week,” Beamer said. “Jared Brown and DeAndre Jules, they’ll still be out this week, they haven’t made it back. Kelvin Hunter and Jalewis Solomon are still out but other than that, everybody’s good. Dalevon Campbell is good, O’Donnell Fortune’s good. Cason Henry got banged up in the game last week, he’s fine. So no issues outside of what we had going into the game last week.”

Brown appeared to be emerging as one of South Carolina’s top receiving threats earlier this year only to suffer a lower-body injury late in the first half against LSU.
The transfer from Coastal Carolina missed the Akron game the week after then returned for the Ole Miss matchup only to have to leave that game early and miss the Alabama game.
Jules exited the Ole Miss game early and then did not play versus the Crimson Tide.
But the good news for Carolina is that both should be back for the game after Oklahoma.
“I don’t think (Brown’s injury will linger), I’d think he’d be back for A&M,” Beamer said. “Obviously, we’re off next week and then we have A&M coming to town. We anticipate him being back for A&M. We thought at the beginning of the week, we might be able to get him back this week but just didn’t progress as quickly as we liked.
“We need him back. He was obviously an explosive playmaker in our offense. He was coming along and made some nice plays throughout the season before he got hurt, so we need to get him back and hopeful that we will be. Same thing with Jules; he should be back for A&M as well.”
Earlier this week Beamer said that veteran offensive lineman Jakai Moore was “doubtful” to play for the Gamecocks this year. He’s officially listed as “out” on Wednesday’s report.

Meanwhile in Oklahoma, top Sooners wide receiver Deion Burks is listed as “questionable” and head coach Brent Venables did not seem confident earlier this week that he’d be available saying he was trying “to defy all odds” to play against the Gamecocks.
Burks is one of several Oklahoma receivers that have missed time.

The SEC recently approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
According to the SEC, penalties for inaccurate or late reports will range from $25,000 to $100,000 for football and anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 for basketball and baseball.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
The Gamecocks and Sooners are set for a 12:45 ET kickoff in Norman, Ok. on Saturday with SEC Network carrying the game.
