South Carolina football injury report
By: Mike Uva
On Tuesday afternoon, Shane Beamer met with the media for his weekly press conference. One of the topics that he hit on was where South Carolina stands on the injury front.
We’ll start with the bad news first. Tight end Chad Terrell‘s season has come to an end after tearing his ACL. A sixth-year season, this marks the third time in Terrell’s career that he’s torn an ACL. The first came in 2018 on his left knee during a spring practice. The second occurred in 2020 to his right ACL during another spring practice. Limited to 27 games, Terrell has caught seven passes for 76 yards for the Gamecocks. Beamer said he’ll remain heavily involved with the program in a role that is still to be determined.

Transfer running back Christian Beal-Smith and punter Kai Kroeger remain questionable for September 3rd’s season opener. Beamer said, “(they’re) our two most concerned guys, if you will. But here we are two-and-a-half weeks before we play and we’re optimistic that both those guys will be out there against Georgia State. But if not, we’ll be ready to roll. But they’re the only two guys that are question marks going into the first game.”
Both Beal-Smith and Kroeger have been battling foot injuries.
Some good news to report, both running back MarShawn Lloyd and linebacker Sherrod Greene practiced today.
Lloyd has been battling a foot injury, but nothing considered serious. Beamer even went as far to say that Lloyd is fine and he has no concerns about where he stands. As far as Greene goes, the team has just been trying to be smart with him. Greene of course is coming back from tearing his ACL at the beginning of last season.
