Shane Beamer provides Thursday injury update
South Carolina listed wide receiver Jared Brown as “probable” during Wednesday’s SEC player availability report. During Shane Beamer’s call-in show Thursday evening, the Gamecocks head coach offered even stronger indications that Brown would not only be available on Saturday against Texas A&M but that he should be back full-go.
“I would like to think he’s 100 (percent) this week,” Beamer said Thursday. “He’s practiced every day this week and looks great. He’s been a big loss. He’s a guy who with the ball in his hands he’s able to do a lot of different stuff. We’ve missed him and certainly glad to have his playmaking ability back.”
While Beamer had also hoped entering the bye week that senior defensive lineman DeAndre Jules would be back this week, Jules and offensive lineman Jakai Moore have already been ruled out.
“I like Prisma Health injury reports that are short; I don’t even have to look at the sheet,” Beamer said Thursday. “Everybody’s good except DeAndre Jules. And let’s roll.”

Brown appeared to be emerging as one of South Carolina’s top receiving threats earlier this year only to suffer a lower-body injury late in the first half against LSU. It also kept him out the following week against Akron. He came back for the Ole Miss game only to get hurt again and miss the next two contests.
Beamer has been confident for some time that Brown would be back this week but less so for Jules who was injured against Ole Miss and hasn’t played in the last two games.
Starting cornerback O’Donnell Fortune has also been dealing with a nagging injury that popped up again against Oklahoma but appears to be fine since Beamer did not mention him on Tuesday and he was not listed on Wednesday’s report.

The second official player availability report of the week will come out tonight shortly after 8 p.m.
The SEC recently approved a player availability injury report system for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
SEC school personnel must submit availability reports three days before each football game, with daily updates leading to a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports are filed the night before, with an update on game day.
When schools submit injury reports, players will be designated as available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day. On game day, designations will be available, game-time decision or out. The model follows injury reports similar to the NFL.
The Gamecocks and Aggies are set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday with ABC carrying the game.
