Shane Beamer reveals players of the week from Vanderbilt win
Several South Carolina Gamecocks football players were honored by the team after a resounding win over Vanderbilt.
On Sunday night, head coach Shane Beamer revealed the players that were selected as players of the game on all sides of the ball.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler, running back Mario Anderson, and offensive lineman Vershon Lee were the picks on offense.

“It was good to see Vershon back in there,” Beamer said. “(He) played well for us.”

A total of four South Carolina defenders got the nod on that side of the ball for players of the week.
USC’s top playerfor the game – Bam Martin-Scott – tallied 13 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack.
“Defensively, Bam Scott was even better than I thought after watching the tape today,” Beamer said on Sunday. “Tonka Hemingway was really active and disruptive up front. In the secondary, DQ Smith and Nick Emmanwori continue to get better for us and play well.”

Martin-Scott was also recognized for his work on special teams. He, along with defensive back Keenan Nelson Jr., were chosen as the players of the week in that phase.
Nelson Jr. blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.
The staff’s selections for the scout team players of the week were wide receiver Elijah Caldwell (offense), defensive backs Joseph Byrnes (defense and special teams) and Landon Grier (defense), and wide receiver Eriq Rice (special teams).
South Carolina’s head coach honored a special group that was in attendance during a rainy day at Williams-Brice Stadium with another award.
“We always give out a Gamecock MVP award and yesteday was the troops from Fort Jackson that were at the game,” said Beamer. “Gave them our Gamecock MVP award along with a combination of Boogie Huntley and our training room. (We) weren’t sure if he would be able to play.”
The defensive tackle not only played, but had a substantial impact on the game on defense and special teams. He also caught his first career touchdown in a special red zone package.
