– When we were out there it was only 85 degrees out but that humidity today at practice was as bad as I can recall for the first practice in my nine years of covering South Carolina. The newcomers are going to learn quickly why they call Columbia “Famously Hot.” On a positive note, days like today are what this team needs knowing that in Week 3, they’ll be playing a noon kickoff at home against LSU.
– Between punts and kickoffs, there were about 30 guys fielding kicks. As special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis said yesterday at media day, they’ll be giving a hard look at Nyck Harbor making an impact as a returner this fall camp.

– In addition to Harbor, some other players who were back returning either kickoffs or punts included Juju McDowell, Mazeo Bennett, Jalon Kilgore, Luke Doty, and Jared Brown.
– Mo Kaba was present with a brace on his left knee. From the limited time that we were able to observe practice, he was moving around well.
– Executive Director of Character and Player Development Derrick Moore had a new sign at practice today. It read “Be the reason.”
