South Carolina and Southern Cal set to meet in 'The Real SC' series starting next season

It’s been a long-standing discussion for years at this point. Between South Carolina and Southern Cal, which school is the real USC?

That debate will be settled on the hardwood, starting later this year. The Gamecocks and Trojans will meet in a pair of women’s basketball matchups over the next two seasons in what will be called “The Real SC” series.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s basketball will join Southern Cal for a bicoastal, two-season series “The Real SC” hosted by Complete Sports Management. Two of the nation’s top programs will meet on Sat., Nov. 15, 2025, at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles and on Sun., Nov. 15, 2026, at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.

“I will always choose elevating women’s basketball, and that’s especially true in scheduling,” South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said. “I know Complete Sports Management has the same mission, and I like their creativity in bring not just two great programs together but engaging their fan bases on both coasts in a debate they love to have.”

South Carolina has amassed three National Championships under Staley and played in four-straight Final Fours. The Gamecocks have nine SEC regular-season and nine SEC Tournament titles in the last 11 seasons. Dating back to its powerhouse days in the 1980s, Southern Cal has two NCAA titles, three Final Four appearances, five regular-season conference and two conference tournament titles to its credit.
