South Carolina baseball lands commitment from former Texas A&M catcher

South Carolina baseball’s new pitching coach and recruiting coordinator posted three separate “Welcome Home” videos in a span of six hours on Tuesday, July 2.
Ohio State infielder Henry Kaczmar and Clemson infielder Nolan Nowrocki were revealed to be two of those commitments. On Wednesday night, the third of those South Carolina pledges went public with his decision.

Former Texas A&M catcher Max Kaufer made his commitment to the Gamecocks official via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Kaufer’s decision comes one day after the transfer portal closed.

The sophomore backstop appeared in 60 total contests with the Aggies, starting in 43 of them. He was the team’s primary catcher during his freshman year before serving in a backup role in 2024.
Kaufer slashed .250/.516/.500 last year, hitting one home run and logging five runs scored and 5 RBIs. He is a career .194 hitter with two total home runs and 17 RBIs in his collegiate career, which spans 124 at bats.
