South Carolina baseball commitments Patrick Evans–a player who pledged his services to the Gamecocks less than one week ago–and Logan Prisco will play in the Junior College World Series. On Tuesday, Evans, Prisco, and their Florence-Darlington Tech Stingers took down the Harford Fighting Owls to secure a district championship and a berth in the JuCo DI World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

As the champions of the East District, Florence-Darlington Tech is one of two teams to secure a spot in the World Series as of the time of this writing. Unlike the College World Series in Omaha during the summer, the JuCo World Series includes ten teams, not eight. The remaining eight districts will finish their championships over the next week. Then, the National Junior College Athletic Association will announce the final bracket and matchups on Tuesday, May 20th.

Evans announced his commitment to South Carolina baseball on May 7th with a simple message on social media, saying, “Staying home #SpursUp.” Prisco committed back in October.

Evans and Prisco have helped lead Flo-Dar to an impressive 51-10 record so far this season. They also pushed the Stingers into the No. 4 spot in Perfect Game’s junior college rankings. Their collective production has been a big reason for the Stingers’ success.

To date, Evans owns a ridiculous .455/.500/.708/1.208 slash line. He has also swatted 10 home runs and 13 doubles while scoring 62 runs and driving in 69 in 50 games. Evans boasts more walks than strikeouts on his ledger and owns an 88.9% stolen base success rate. The Lexington native was a first-team All-Region 10 performer and the Region 10 Player of the Year.

Prisco has registered a 3.99 ERA and 1.21 WHIP (solid numbers) but a strong 86 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched. He has surrendered 30 earned runs this season, but 13 runs came in two starts. In the other 13 times on the mound, he’s given up 17 total earned runs. Prisco picked up the win, going 6.1 innings with just one run allowed in Florence-Darlington’s first of two victories over Harford this week. He also was a first-team All-Region 10 selection.

Evans is an infielder who got most of his reps at third base, though he played some shortstop, too. He also spent some time as the Stingers’ designated hitter. Evans is a sophomore at FDTC, meaning he should have two years of eligibility remaining.

Prisco, a 6-4, 229-pound lefty, operated primarily as a starter this season. He saw relief work just once this spring. Unlike Evans, Prisco has three years of eligibility remaining. He also has been out of high school for two seasons but did not play in 2024.
