While things haven’t been great this season for South Carolina baseball, it wasn’t that long ago that the Gamecocks were one of the premier programs in the sport. USC won back-to-back College World Series titles in 2010 and 2011. This week, SEC Network’s SEC Storied documentary series will focus on those teams and some of their off-the-field inspirations.

On Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., SEC Network will air SEC Storied: In Spirit, a one-hour documentary produced by former Gamecock outfielder Jake Williams. Williams threw out the potential winning run in extra innings against Florida in game one of the 2011 championship series. Carolina then went on to win the game and the series.

Williams’ film rightfully celebrates the two title teams. However, it also goes in-depth into the stories of Bayler Teal and Charlie Peters, two children who inspired the team while battling cancer (Peters eventually became South Carolina’s bat boy for one of the championship runs).

Williams told USC’s Director of Content Brad Muller that the documentary took about eight years to make. Williams owns his own production company called 37 Pictures. He says he has more footage available that he may use to create more content related to South Carolina baseball.

Because SEC Storied documentaries are accessible via the ESPN app, fans can watch In Spirit again after Wednesday. Following their broadcast, all SEC Storied films are available to stream on ESPN+.
