South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris has flipped recruiting efforts for the Gamecocks in recent years.

For the first time in the On3 rankings era (since the 2022 recruiting cycle), USC has multiple top-200 players committed in one class. In fact, they have three. Both dynamic scoring guard Eli Ellis and versatile forward EJ Walker hold that distinction in the industry composite, and fellow Gamecock commitment Hayden Assemian is ranked that high in On3’s rankings.

Paris and the Gamecocks might not be done in the ’25 cycle just yet, but USC’s efforts in the 2026 class are well underway. One target whose name has emerged recently is 4-star Wheeler High School (Alabaster, Alabama) guard Colben Landrew.

According to a social media report from High School Top Recruiting, Landrew has revealed he will be in Columbia soon. Visiting the South Carolina basketball program this weekend, the class of 2026 prospect will arrive in town on October 5th.

A preseason All-Metro Georgia selection, On3 ranks Landrew as the 63rd-best player in the country. Listed as a 6’6″ shooting guard, he is a plus-athlete who can play all three perimeter positions. If he puts it all together, Landrew has the potential to become a matchup nightmare at the next level.

A good shooter, the high school junior has range from well beyond the arc, and he can take and make shots as a spot-up shooter and off the bounce. Landrew plays the game with confidence and swagger, a trait necessary for potentially explosive offensive players.

Landrew also took recent visits to Ole Miss and Clemson. His high school teammate Tylis Jordan is a Rebel commitment.

He also is a receiver on his high school football team, but On3 only rates him as a basketball prospect.
