South Carolina basketball adds third transfer portal piece
South Carolina’s picked up its third transfer portal commitment Monday afternoon, landing a veteran starter with SEC experience for next season in Myles Stute.
The Gamecocks landed Stute after he spent the last three seasons at Vanderbilt, getting him on board after he was on campus this past weekend for an official visit.
Stute announced his commitment today on the heels of that visit. And the Gamecocks add a versatile wing to the 2023-24 roster with experience.

He’s coming off a three-year career with the Commodores where he averaged 7.4 points on 37.7 percent shooting and went 37.9 percent from deep. Stute shot 60.9 percent from the line over his career while hauling in 3.7 rebounds.
This year he averaged 8.4 points but his shooting numbers dipped this season. Stute hit just 34.7 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from three. He did haul in his best rebounds per game of his career, bringing in 4.6 per game.
His best scoring season came in 2021-22 as a sophomore where he averaged 8.5 points but shot 44.8 percent from the field. He shot a career-best 43.2 percent from three in 24 minutes per game.

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Stute heard from Louisville, Arkansas, Nebraska, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Georgetown, Miami, NC State and plenty others while going through the process.
Arkansas, Ole Miss and Santa Barbara had all been in the mix at the time Stute committed to South Carolina.
He’s the Gamecocks’ third portal commitment of the offseason, joining Minnesota’s Ta’Lon Cooper and The Citadel’s Stephen Clark.

Clark, who played four seasons at The Citadel, averaged over 16 points on 49.2 percent shooting while bringing in 6.5 rebounds per game. He also blocked 1.8 shots per game.
Both Cooper and Clark come to South Carolina with one year of eligibility left while Stute has two seasons left.
South Carolina will also enroll a pair of freshmen: four-star forward Collin Murray-Boyles and three-star guard/wing Arden Conyers.
Both are Columbia natives. Murray-Boyles is coming off a very strong senior year at Wasatch Academy where he was first-team NIBC. Conyers had a productive season at Westwood (S.C.) High School as well.

Murray-Boyles’ senior year vaulted him inside the top 100 of the rankings. He currently sits at No. 91 in On’3 rankings.
As it stands currently the Gamecocks have two more scholarships to spend on next year’s roster.
