When South Carolina basketball takes the floor on Saturday against Mississippi State, the Bulldogs won’t be at full strength. According to State’s SEC-mandated availability/injury report, former starting guard Kanye Clary will be out for the game.

Clary has been out for about a month with what MSU head coach Chris Jans has called a “lower-leg injury.” Clary started four games and played a key reserve role in three others but will miss another game on Saturday. Prior to his injury, Clary had averaged 6.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

On the South Carolina end of things, the availability report is clear. According to USC head coach Lamont Paris, the Gamecocks are fully healthy and ready to go.

During the offseason, the SEC approved a new policy that mandates availability reports for conference games. The reports will be required for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball. For football, teams submit reports on Wednesday and then update them each day until a final report 90 minutes before game time. For basketball and baseball, reports will be submitted the evening before a game and then updated on game day.

The availability reports will use designations such as “available,” “probable,” “questionable,” “doubtful,” and “out” to describe how likely it is that a particular player will suit up for the next conference game. On game day, those designations will shift to “out” or “game-time decision.” The reports model professional sports leagues’ injury reports.

South Carolina and Mississippi State will tip off at 2:00 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville. SEC Network will broadcast the contest, while the ESPN app will make it available for streaming. The Gamecocks enter Saturday 10-3, and the No. 17-ranked Bulldogs are 12-1. Saturday will mark the first SEC league game for both USC and MSU.
