South Carolina basketball star rockets up On3 NIL valuation ranks
South Carolina basketball star sophomore Collin Murray-Boyles seems destined to become a very rich young man very soon. The Columbia native projects as a 1st-round NBA Draft pick, and with a strong second year with the Gamecocks, he could see himself taken in the lottery. Picks 10-14 (the back half of the lottery) make between $3.7 Million and $4.6 Million in their rookie seasons. The rest of the first-rounders collect paychecks totaling between $2 Million and $3.6 Million.
However, according to On3, Murray-Boyles is already a valuable individual while still in college. Based on a recent update to On3’s NIL Valuations, CMB’s current NIL valuation is estimated to be $985,000. That number is 26th among men’s college basketball players. It also is the 29th-highest valuation among all college basketball stars, 55th regardless of college sport, and tied for 72nd among all amateur athletes. Prior to the update, Murray-Boyles ranked well
According to On3, its NIL Valuation index “is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV) by combining Roster Value and NIL” and “establishes the overall NIL market and projected 12-month growth rate for an Athlete by measuring two categories: Roster Value and NIL.”

No other University of South Carolina athlete ranks inside On3’s NIL 100. However, Josiah Thompson and Kyle Kennard are inside the top 100 among college football players, Cam Scott joins Murray-Boyles in the top-100 in men’s basketball, and MiLaysia Fulwiley, Chloe Kitts, Raven Johnson, Bree Hall, Te-Hina Paopao, Ashlyn Watkins, Tessa Johnson, Sania Feagin, and Joyce Edwards all crack the top-100 for women’s basketball. Several other prominent Gamecocks like Nyck Harbor, Rocket Sanders, and LaNorris Sellers do not have updated valuations.
Murray-Boyles has a chance to improve his number even more before heading off to the NBA. CMB and the South Carolina basketball team start their 2024-2025 season on Monday with a home contest against North Florida. Tip is at 7:00, and SEC Network+ will air the game via streaming.
