South Carolina basketball commit Eli Ellis sets OTE scoring record

There is a South Carolina commit setting records at one of the highest levels of high school basketball. Eli Ellis is a point guard in the 2025 recruiting class that’s tearing up Overtime Elite.
On Tuesday night, he broke the league record for points in a game with 44. Then Ellis followed it up with 30 points on Wednesday night.

South Carolina basketball has been recruiting the 2025 class hard. Head coach Lamont Paris and his staff seem to have found a gem in Ellis.
Ellis is listed as a four-star recruit, according to On3, coming out of Hickory, North Carolina.
He led Overtime Elite in three-point percentage, shooting 43.7 percent in the 2022-23 season. He also won Most Improved last year in the league as well.
Ellis’s play style fits very well into Paris’s system at South Carolina. Ellis is locked in as a Gamecock for now since he committed in November. Where the challenge lies for Paris and his staff is fending off the bluebloods.

If Ellis continues to dominate, other schools will come knocking. As for now, though, everything looks good for South Carolina.

What is OTE
Overtime Elite is a basketball league for high school players. Players sign NIL deals while enrolled in high school classes online.
The basketball media company OverTime started it as a professional league with hopes of taking high school players straight to the NBA. Now OTE focuses on elevating players from high school to college.
It is one of the highest tiers of high school basketball currently.
