South Carolina basketball has landed a commitment from Mike Sharavjamts, a talented player who spent the 2024-2025 season playing for the Utah Utes. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony first reported the news.

Sharavjamts, the first Mongolian player ever to play Division-I basketball, is a long, athletic, and skilled player who can play virtually any role in an offense. His overall counting stats haven’t been overwhelming, but there is plenty to like about Sharavjamts. He’s potentially got more to offer, too. A look at his film shows there is a lot of untapped potential in his game.

Sharavjamts is the fifth commitment in South Carolina’s 2025 transfer portal class. On3 viewed him as a 4-star prospect out of high school and again as a 4-star transfer.

The 6-9 wing averaged 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists last season at Utah. His shooting numbers weren’t great with he Utes, but the year before at San Francisco, he shot 36.0% from the 3-point arc and 82.4% from the free throw line. Sharavjamts is a solid ballhandler and has good court vision and passing instincts.

He also is a solid defender who can help slow down opposing guards or switch onto post players. Despite his thin frame, he is a tough player on that end of the court that should fit into what head coach Lamont Paris likes to do on defense.

Sharavjamts has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining. He joins a class that includes 4-star transfer guard Kobe Knox, 4-star transfer post players Elijah Strong and Christ Essandoko, and 3-star transfer guard Meechie Johnson. 4-star wing Treysen Eaglestaff decommitted from the class last week. Following the latest pledge, South Carolina has four remaining scholarships. Any additional transfer activity or a Collin Murray-Boyles draft reversal would change that number.
