South Carolina basketball commit drains championship-winning buzzer-beater

South Carolina basketball commitment Eli Ellis has done it again. On Friday night, he dominated another Overtime Elite championship series contest. This time, though, Ellis canned a buzzer-beater to take game four and the series. Good defense at the top of the key proved inconsequential as Eli Ellis proved to be inevitable.
Ellis and his YNG Dreamerz team are now the OTE champions. Fellow Gamecock commitment Hayden Assemian and class of 2026 targets Isaac Ellis and Kohl Rosario also play for the YNG Dreamerz.

For the game, Ellis finished with an impressive stat line of 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. He also shot better than 50% from the field and from the arc. He made some open looks and, like he did with his game-winner, he made shots when he had to create something out of nothing.

In the four-game series (the YNG Dreamerz won 3-1), the future Gamecock averaged more than 35 points per game. He also has made more than half of his total shot attempts and 3-point tries. Unsurprisingly, he earned championship series MVP honors. It was a fitting end to Ellis’ time with Overtime Elite as the league’s all-time leading score and assist man led his team to the trophy. After the title win, he declared that his Overtime Elite career was finally “completed.”
According to On3’s industry rankings, Ellis is the nation’s No. 70 overall player. He ranks as the No. 21 shooting guard and No. 4 recruit in North Carolina. He and Assemian are joined in South Carolina’s 2025 signing class by versatile forward EJ Walker and 3-point bomber Grant Polk.
