South Carolina basketball commitment Eli Ellis and his YNG Dreamerz squad are battling in the Overtime Elite championship. Fellow Gamecock commit Hayden Assemian and class of 2026 targets Isaac Ellis and Kohl Rosario also play for the YNG Dreamerz. All four players have played a role in the first two games of the championship series, but Eli Ellis has stolen the show.

In what is a best-of-five series against the City Reapers currently tied at 1-1, Ellis has been the top offensive player among several big-time collegiate prospects.

In game one, Ellis scored 29 points on 10-18 shooting in just 20 minutes. His lighter-than-usual workload came because of a controversial ejection. Following some City Reapers thrown elbows, a couple of players (including Assemian) were tossed thanks to some pushing and shoving. Officials ejected Ellis on the next possession for jawing with Amari Evans, a Tennessee commitment.

In game two, the future South Carolina guard was even better. Ellis scored 47 points on 63% shooting. In fact, he and his younger brother Isaac scored 72 of their team’s 79 total points. The rest of the team made just three overall shots, though, resulting in a loss.

In the first two contests in the series, Ellis scored at will. He made better than 50% of his shots inside the arc in both games and canned 8-of-15 from behind the perimeter. He made shots off the dribble, on catch-and-shoots, and with defenders draped all over him.

If Ellis translates even most of his offensive success to the next level, he will give South Carolina basketball fans plenty to cheer for over the next several years.

The elder Ellis’ domination will have to wait nearly a week to continue. Games three through five will take place on March 13th, March 14th, and March 16th. The rest of the championship series will stream on Overtime Elite’s YouTube channel.
